Interview: The girl whose life was changed because of one dot - Tamara Ristic, Fashion Designer

1. How did you decide to deal with fashion?
  • Honestly, one dot completely changed my life. Dot, which I didn’t put at the end of the sentences in the entrance exam and for which I lacked half a point to enroll gymnasium. Next on the list was a technical school, "Jovan Vukanovic”, direction-modeler clothes. I went there although I was not so thrilled, but I knew that I had to finish high school. At 15, I still didn’t really know want I would like to do in my life. However, after the first year I realized that I had chosen the right profession. Fashion always interested me but I never thought that I would do that. However, destiny mixed in its fingers and showed me the right way.
2. Do you perhaps remember what you first designed?
  • I started to sow for me and my friends, creating some dresses for going out...I even bought ready-made but I always wanted to be different so I was modifying them, adding something, etc...  After some time, many girls have started to pay attention on my creations. They asked me for advice, then they wanted to design them some clothing combinations because they saw I have a taste. Also, when I buy a thing I like to combine, to carry things in different ways. So I am making some tunics from dresses, a t-shirts from skirts, so my friends often ask me "You've bought something new, again?" And then I tell them "Noo...I just experimented a little bit..."

3. Where are you getting the inspiration to create?
  • I have a vision of a woman who is an inspiration for me, a vision of woman for which I sew. The perfect woman for me needs to be elegant, to keep to herself, to be fabulous. As Coco Chanel said "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous." When you have those two things, you can wear the tablecloth if you want, but you will be perfect. However, woman needs to carry things with grace, and when she enter the room that everyone pay attention on her.
Kao sto je Coco Chanel reklaA girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.
4. If you were not a designer, what would you be?
  • My life dream is to be an actress. I am interested in acting like in the fashion, so they fit well with each other. My dream is to go to Hollywood and to be the first Serbian actress, so I started with my acting classes because why would I deal with only one profession? A man should do all that he loves to be fulfilled in his life. I have a talent and I should show it. So, I really have big plans for myself.
4. Da nisi dizajner, cime bi se bavila?
  • Moj zivotni san je da budem glumica. Gluma me interesuje koliko I moda, a I idu u korak jedno sa drugim.

5. What every girl should have in her wardrobe this summer?
  • Flowing white dress to combine with some conspicuous jewelry of other color to break out that innocence. For example jewelry should be yellow, green, orange or cyclamen because those colors are definitely in this summer. In addition, I would recommend long pants, white blazer, long print dress, a good pair of jeans, flattering shirt and shoes with a platform that will lengthen legs.
6. What do you think, do the clothes make the man?
  • Clothes do not make the man, but we live in a world where the impression is very important. Everyday look quite tells us if the man is open for cooperation, for talking... Clothes help us to be accepted, although it's a crazy idea and brazenly thought. However, I think everyone should pay more attention how to leave the house, because why to get dressed ugly when we can dress pretty. As Coco Chanel said, "I do not understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny."
Kao sto je Coco Chanel rekla "I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny."

7. I noticed that you often quote Coco Chanel...
  • Yes, I love her a lot because I agree with her vision of fashion. I like the fact she has liberated us from the corsets and found another way of dressing. In the fashion world she does not need to be loved but must be respected, Coco really deserves it, that's the reason why she still survives.
8. Who is your favorite designer?

  • Gianfranco Ferré, definitely. I enjoy his fashion shows and identify myself with his design. I love to play with forms, to make art from the model. I think that he wasn’t known as the "Architect of fashion" without a reason. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to talk to him and to get advice.

9. What are your plans for the future?
  • My plans are to continue to deal with fashion and to make the world wide brand. I'm not afraid of my dreams.
 10. What do you think of Blogging?
  • I'm very impressed. Continue to follow your dreams and to educate our population. It's great to be a Blogger if you enjoy it and if you have a freedom of speech because it is difficult to find. Believe in yourself and you will succeed.
10. Sta mislis o blogovanju?
